Bloom True by Terri Conrad: Floral Quilt Inspiration
How can a fabric collection feel delicate and strong at the same time? For me, it happens when tiny floral elements—each lovely on its own—come together to create something with real presence. That is exactly what drew me to Bloom True.
Designed by Terri Conrad for Poppie Cotton, Bloom True combines sweet, delicate florals with a richer palette of signature pinks, warm gold, dreamy aqua, and deep chocolate-brown-to-black tones.

Bloom True by Terri Conrad for Poppie Cotton
Months before I made this quilt, I received Bloom True for a Poppie Cotton fabric tour. I knew right away that I wanted the quilt to showcase the individual prints rather than let the smaller motifs disappear into the background.
There is plenty of classic Poppie Cotton charm here, especially in the pinks and petite florals, but Bloom True has its own personality. Instead of the chickens and strawberries that appear in some Poppie Cotton collections, this line leans into tiny blossoms and botanical details that feel soft without becoming overly sweet.
1,080 Half-Square Triangles
For this oversized throw, I used 2.5-inch half-square triangles and arranged an eye-popping 1,080 squares into rows. Was it a little crazy? Absolutely. But the repetition gave every print a chance to shine, and the finished quilt was worth all that piecing.

Why the White Framing Works
One of my favorite parts of this quilt is the airiness created by Country Confetti Marshmallow White by Poppie Cotton. Country Confetti reads almost like a solid, but it has just enough texture to keep the background interesting. The white framing gives each Bloom True print its own little spotlight.
For the backing, I chose Bloom True Flora Black. Poppie Cotton called the color black, but in some light it reads more like a deep dark chocolate—which happens to be right up my alley.

The Flowers in Bloom Quilt Pattern
When I originally shared this project, we paired Bloom True with the Flowers in Bloom quilt pattern. It is a fat-quarter-friendly design, and we offered three different border looks in yellow, blue, and pink. The project also used two versatile Poppie Cotton basics: Country Confetti Heavy Cream and Country Confetti Marshmallow White.
